Story

The CDI WaSH team are thrilled to announce our 2021 Fundraising Run. With a suggested joining donation of the price of a coffee, £3, join us in a bid to achieve 30 miles in 30 days, all in support of handwashing facilities for children in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and improving local well water quality there.

The run will support two projects; SWaSH (WaSH in schools), in which we support local technicians and engineering students to build handwashing facilities in primary schools, and the Last 100m Project, piloting interventions like chlorination to improve drinking water quality from the local well in the Vingunguti district.

Last summer, we built handwashing facilities in four schools in the Vingunguti district. Hidaya, from Miembeni primary school, says: We and our children are enjoying the service - we keep our clean hands all the time. God bless you all!.

Before joining the SWaSH project and receiving a handwashing facility, Hidaya describes children having to wash their hands with the little water that could be brought from the well to the school by bucket. The time saved by the facility, for children and teachers alike, has been enormous.

So get your trainers ready, join the team with our suggested donation (£3, JustGiving link in our bio), and follow our Facebook page to get ready for our launch on the 15th of April! Well be releasing the first weeks running schedule then, to mark International Microvolunteering day. #acoffeeforcleanwater #30in3
