Story
Shpresa's work bringing communities together and empowering the Albanian diaspora community and other marginalised groups in Newham and London for the last 20 years. This has transformed thousands of people's lives by getting jobs on the Olympics through to supporting domestic violence victims.
All this has been achieved by Shpresa without a permanent site in Newham. The site we are using, Mansfield House, is being sold, which means Shpresa won't have a base in Newham.
Shpresa has always dreamed of having a home, and the Albanian community and other marginalised groups deserves to have one. We are in the process of buying Mansfield House, so we can secure a permanent home for our community.
All of this at a time when Shpresa is also going through one of its biggest challenges. Recently, I (Luljeta) was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and currently I am undergoing chemotherapy.
Shpresa has secured a mortgage offer and a social invstement for the purchase of the building. We have also secured a grant and other contributions of £50,000.
However, we still need to raise £100,000 to unlock this offer and go forward with the purchase.
Please donate to this fundraiser to allow Shpresa to have a permanent home in Newham. Your money would go directly to buying the property as a permenant home for Shpresa.
The acquisition of Mansfield House would allow communities we serve to have a home and Shpresa to continue provide vital services inclduing support to victims of domestic violce, traficking, unaccompained minors, reach more and develop the building in a communit hub creating more space for other groups to grow, increase training and employment support, bringing communities together to share lived experiences and learn from one another.
I, Luljeta, in order to fundraise for Shpresa, take the challenge to walk 500,000 steps to raise £100,000. Please walk with me, sponsor me, or donate.
