WALK THE WORLD WITH MAIA MOUSE - Taking steps separately, supporting families together
London to Los Angeles, Egypt, Kilimanjaro, Dubai, Mount Everest, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney. A challenge not of personal endurance, but a monumental goal targeted by bringing many small achievements together; 50 million steps, 25,000 miles, over 1,000 walkers, 1 world and 1 charity. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a Sunday stroller, Walk the World with Maia Mouse has something in it for everyone.
Covid-19 has changed the world in which we live. It will influence the way people think, how we move and how we all live our life in the new world. But whilst everything changes around us, out of our control, something remains very much within it, helping each other and those in need. Every day we hear inspirational stories of neighbours helping neighbours they once never knew, NHS workers risking lives to save those stricken by the virus. The world we face faces continued and serious challenge, to society's basic structures, economy and more importantly health and well-being. However throughout all of this uncertainty, and at a time when hospices are struggling, the Maia Mouse Foundation wants to continue to drive and help children and families in need and in ill health wherever it can.
It has long been said that every crisis, presents opportunity, a revived appreciation for life, for family, for the outdoors, to help others. Everything has changed, fast. Yet despite the fear and anxiety, things that were previously thought impossible have been achieved in a matter of days. Strangers have pulled together united in a new collective purpose, adapted new perspectives on life and applied themselves in different ways.
The concept.. bring together the newfound spirit of togetherness. Challenge the impossible, and apply individual targets to one ultimate goal, Walk the World.
On 20th May 2016 Maia sadly passed away, leaving behind her legacy and what is now a charity supporting children with life limiting conditions. It operates nationally by offering grants to make lasting memories and help with day to day life under very difficult circumstances.
In the spirit of achieving the impossible, on Wednesday 20th May, the anniversary of Maia's passing, the Maia Mouse Foundation will embark on its biggest challenge yet, together with you. In recent years a group of individuals have embarked on 2 mammoth 100km ultra races in aid of raising funds for this amazing cause, £30K was raised by these events alone and this will push the boundary even further. Great things are done when a series of small things are brought together, 50 million steps, 25,000 miles, over 1,500 walkers, 1 world and 1 charity.
THE CHALLENGE - 'Walk the World', spread the word and invite supporters to walk the walk, logging your distance covered using the link below (this link can also be found on our website). Live progress will be tracked visually as we visit incredible destinations around the globe.

THE ASK - Raise or donate £1 per mile covered wherever possible, towards the ultimate target. 25,000 miles, £25,000 all to those children in need.
This is a monumental task, therefore we thank you for your support, and for sharing this far and wide. We have set an ambitious target of the end of June. We also ask that all miles are covered within government Covid-19 restrictions in place at that time so please use your daily exercise allowance responsibly throughout.
We also acknowledge for those wanting to set personal targets and go the extra mile, donating and/or raising £1 per mile may be challenging. Miles beat pounds in this scenario please continue to add your miles to the total. Miles can be added to the website at any point, either daily or totalled up and entered at the end.
This challenge will raise money for a great cause, whilst keeping people fit and healthy in body and in mind.
Thank you
,
