Walk for the 1 in 5
Today many of us take our Bible for granted. It’s just there – readily available in our language. Some of us have copies in many versions.
But did you know that 1 in 5 people around the world do not have the Bible in their own language?
Transformation through God’s word
Translating the Bible and getting it into the hands of Christians, churches and whole communities is something that Wycliffe Bible Translators is passionate about. Everyone can come to know Jesus through God’s word in the language that speaks to them best – and then transformation will happen.
You can help!
By joining us in Walk for the Word, you can make a real difference! Every step you take is supporting translators and helping more people to hear about Jesus and live their lives knowing God through the Bible – people like Kodya.
Kodya lives in Togo. When he was a young boy he didn’t hear about Jesus until one day someone came to his village to speak about him. He was so amazed by what he heard, he wanted to know more. But he had a problem: the only Bible in the village was in French – and Kodya couldn’t read or write in French.
Kodya became a literacy teacher for his own language, Ifè. And now that the New Testament has been translated into Ifè – and he is able to read and write in Ifè – Kodya has become a pastor and tells everyone about how Jesus died for him and has changed his life forever.
Having God’s word in the Ifè language has had a huge impact: today, nearly every Ifè community has a church! That is the transformation that having the Bible in your own language can have. As you Walk for the Word you are helping to bring similar transformation to other communities who are waiting for the Bible in their own language. Thank you!
