Story
For more than 100 years, the Mittleman Jewish Community Center has been the "living room" of Portland's Jewish community. In a typical year, 12,000 people come through our doors, and nearly 4,000 individuals utilize our facilities as members. Membership fees, program fees and rentals account for approximately 86% of our annual revenue, and we are dependent upon donations, grants, and fundraisers to make up the difference.
We are committed to ensuring that no one is ever turned away due to an inability to pay.
Your support of the Walk for the J will help us to provide: (1) scholarships benefiting seniors on fixed incomes and others in need; (2) arts and cultural programming that put the "J" in MJCC; (3) our warm water pool, which offers therapeutic healing for our members who need it most; (4) day camp scholarships, new equipment in the fitness center, facility upgrades, and so much more.
Funds raised through this fun and inspiring event will benefit all who come to the J for health and healing, for arts and culture, and for schmoozing and a sense of community. Your gift will help sustain this unique and special place.
