Story

We are excited to be gearing up for this year’s 5K Walk for ABLE! We look forward to lacing up our sneakers, putting on our “We are ABLE” t-shirts, and walking together to raise money and awareness for ABLE. Because we are a fee for service charity, fundraising is vital to our continued success. Program fees paid by our participants cover only 50% of our operating budget. The other 50% is generated by grants, private donations, and organized fundraising events. While it’s challenging to maintain this financial model, we do it so that we can keep fees affordable for our participants and their families. We need the help of generous donors so that we can continue to provide quality programming for our much-loved program participants.

This year’s 5K walk is our biggest fundraiser planned for this year.

Please give generously!

About the charity

The ABLE Network is a fee for service, registered charity located in York Region. We are a community-based program that provides relevant, inclusive work and recreation opportunities for adults with Intellectual and Disabilities (ID) in natural job and community settings. Our participants are supported in our five core programs of work, travel and safety training, recreation, continuing education, and community service activities. Each participant has an individualized schedule. The ABLE Network is based on strong principles and research that states that inclusion of persons with an ID in natural settings provides them with an equal opportunity to make a contribution to the health and well-being of their community.
