Isolation can be devastating for victims of domestic violence. We know this first-hand because we've seen a 40% increase in calls to our Greater Charlotte Hope Line in March 2020. Our clients need us more than ever now, and that's why we're taking Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® virtual in 2020. Charlotte's 9th annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes® is part of an international march to combat rape and gender violence. It is a playful opportunity to raise awareness in our community about the serious causes, effects and remediations to sexualized violence against women. We challenge men and women to walk a mile in women's high-heeled shoes. It's not easy, but it gets the community talking about gender relations and sexualized violence against women. Friends and family join in to cheer for these brave walkers on social media! Don't worry, we still plan to have a fun gathering once social distancing ends. We look forward to seeing you at the awards ceremony and after party at NoDa Brewing (date TBD).
