#Walk4Wards has gone virtual!
In the current COVID-19 climate of social restrictions and the reality of a new normal, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity have transformed their Walk4Wards event into a virtual one this year.
The walk, which was due to take place at the end of March, has been adapted for the summer months. From 1 July to 1 September the new, fun, flexible Walk4Wards event commences, putting all pre-COVID fundraising efforts to good use and, hopefully, new donations will continue to spur the walkers on for their chosen ward or department.
The route from Epsom Hospital to St Helier Hospital is 7.5 miles/12 kilometres. For many, life in lockdown introduced new ways of exercising, and modern technology such as Fitbits and step-counting apps have been relied on to quantify progress. For those who prefer to cover distance by pedometers, 7.5 miles averages to 15,840 steps.
To complete the new Walk4Wards event, the Charity are asking their walkers to cover either 7.5 miles or 15,840 steps between 1 July and 1 September 2020 which ever way theyd like. Whether you walk the intended route, run laps of the garden, tackle the staircase, or spread the challenge over several days, the fun begins with fundraising!
To kick-start the event, the Charity will send participants a Walk4Wards Virtual package which includes their very own t-shirt. Upon completion of the challenge, send in send your finish line photo wearing the t-shirt to earn a new-for-this-year medal!
