Story
We are proud to launch the latest in our series of walk4pounds events, this time raising funds to support the Jordan Sinnott Foundation in memory of the Huddersfield Town Academy graduate, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Huddersfield Town Foundation.
Taking place on Saturday 8 October ahead of our home fixture against Hull City, the full 25-mile route will begin at one of Sinnott's former schools, St Marys School Menston, before passing his junior club Guiseley FC and Bradford City's home at Valley Parade - which holds special familial significance before heading back to Huddersfield and the John Smiths Stadium in time for our 3pm kick-off.
For those who wouldn't feel comfortable taking on the full 25-mile route, there will be a shorter 15-mile alternative available starting from Valley Parade.
Sponsored by The Skinny Food Co. the walk is in memory of former Town Academy graduate Jordan Sinnott, who's untimely passing occurred in tragic circumstances in January 2020. A teammate and close friend of several members of our current First Team, his career also saw him turn out in midfield for Altrincham, Bury, FC Halifax Town, Chesterfield, Alfreton Town and Matlock Town.
Centred around the theme of 25 which was Jordan's age when he tragically died all funds raised will be split between the Jordan Sinnott Foundation, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Huddersfield Town Foundation.
Huddersfield Town Ambassador Andy Booth commented:
We're really proud to be able to arrange an event in Jordan's memory and look to raise funds for The Jordan Sinnott Foundation in our latest walk4pounds.
Jordan's family have been a part of Huddersfield Town for over 30 years, and I was lucky enough to play with his father Lee who was my captain for a number of years, so grew close to the entire family in that time.
I can still remember Jordan being born, so on a personal note, being able to help arrange this event in his memory is a real privilege, and it will mean so much to so many people to walk together past a number of significant places from his life.
This is another special event and will be incredibly meaningful to many people taking part, so please do show us your support as you always do and we can show our collective appreciation of a truly special person.
Launched by his loved ones after his passing, the Jordan Sinnott Foundation aims to support vulnerable and under privileged children and young adults to access healthy recreation and ensure that they have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and enjoy the life changing benefits that comes from sport.
The relief of those who are in need, particularly children and young people, by reason of sickness or disability, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances, including by the provision of grants to fund items such as sports equipment, club membership or training facilities for those who cannot afford them.
To help young people, by means of sport and healthy recreation, to develop their capabilities and fulfil their potential as individuals and members of society.
In addition to The Jordan Sinnott Foundation, the official charity of the football Club - The Huddersfield Town foundation will be beneficiaries of the funds along with long standing charity partner - Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
