Story
On the 31st August a team of walkers will embark on a 18 mile hike along the Welsh coastline from Aberystwyth to Aberaeron to help fight against the injustice of childhood cancer.
Every day in the UK 12 children, on average, are diagnosed with cancer. Since 1987, Children with Cancer UK has raised over £230 million to support research into the causes and treatment of childhood cancers, as well as provide better facilities and support for children with cancer and their families.
The Coastal Walk was inspired by Harri. Harri was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in January 2018 after a CT scan revealed a large tumour inside his sinus cavity. Ewing's Sarcoma is a very rare form of cancer and the chemotherapy drugs Harri was given haven't changed much in the last 30 years, so came with many harsh side-effects. Harri is now in remission and back to being a happy 5 year old boy. Children with Cancer UK is actively investing in research to develop kinder, less toxic and ultimately more effective treatments for children, to reduce the risk of harmful, life limiting side effects .
