Their most important fight isn't in the military - it's finding peace afterwards
In July 2023, a group of 60 riders will take on the ultimate challenge: an epic Waterloo (London) to Waterloo (Belgium) cycle! The 222 mile, 3 day cycle will pass through Dover, Dunkirk, Ypres and Kortrijk before arriving on the Waterloo battlefield, where the charity Waterloo Uncovered have been helping veterans achieve recovery through discovery since 2015.
Waterloo Uncovered is the groundbreaking charity combining a world-class archaeological project on the Waterloo battlefield with expert veteran care and recovery. Each year they continue to grow and expand our scope of work, all while using archaeology as our primary tool to improve the wellbeing, education and recovery of veterans and serving personnel, many of whom have experienced mental or physical impacts from their service.
We get history and archaeology, but theres a huge wellbeing and support environment as well. it has boosted my self-confidence. I feel accepted, I dont feel disabled, I feel enabled - Lisa, 2022 Excavation Participant
Today, the charity runs four unique Veteran Support Programmes, all of which feature year-round support from our experienced team of Wellbeing professionals. Their programmes have helped hundreds of veterans and serving personnel transition into civilian life, exploring new interests, education and employment opportunities in a friendly and supportive environment.
Support the team as they take on this epic cycle with a donation today! All donations from this fundraiser will directly support veterans and serving military personnel (VSMP) as they find peace from war.
