Story
Victoria Police Legacy is a charitable not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of services to police families throughout Victoria who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
Should a serving or retired police officer or protective services officer, or their spouse/partner pass away, Victoria Police Legacy is there to provide ongoing support to the spouse/partner and children.
Its been nearly seven years since I became part of the VPL family, along with my children. VPL has honestly been my strength at times, held my hand navigating some of the most difficult times in my life, and provided the support I dont know if I wouldve gotten anywhere else.
Victoria Police Legacy supports over 1,200 police legatees ranging from 2 years to 98 years of age across Victoria. Our supports include field officer welfare checks and home visits, financial hardship assistance, education grants and a variety of social connection activities including lunches and trips / getaways.
Police Legacy is the family you are lucky enough to have when you have had to go through tragedy. They are the community of support that helps you through the grief. Police Legacy is made up of people that get it. They have had similar experiences, they provide an ear to listen and a voice of compassion and empathy.
We all think and hope that we will survive well into our retirement and old age and that our loved ones will similarly live long and rewarding lives, but the reality is that some of of our police families will need support of Victoria Police Legacy due to the loss of a loved one.
Donating to Victoria Police Legacy is a great way to help those in the policing family who have been struck by the loss of a loved one with meaningful support services.
Every single person at VPL has a huge heart of gold and to every person who donates to this charity, please know your contribution goes such a long way.
