Visit the charity's profileThe Vow of Silence Challenge is a charity event to be held on either Saturday 28th November or Sunday 29th November 2020. The challenge is for participants to challenge themselves to be silent and not speak during the hours of 6am to 6pm on either day. Participants can choose the day to suit them best.
Participants will seek sponsors to raise money for their challenge.
All monies raised will be used to buy Christmas presents for severely disabled children and their families.
The Vow of Silence Challenge is being organized by The Future is Bright Charitable Trust (Registered Charity 1189303) http://www.thefutureisbright.org/, with all money raised going to the Harley Jae South Charity (Registered Charity 1180185) , a charity who help children who have life limiting conditions and their families. Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on many groups and communities in 2020. But those who have a severely disabled child have been particularly affected. These families rely on family, helpers and hospitals to survive. Many of these families have had to fend for themselves on the edge over the past year. They have been living in fear of visiting hospital for critical medical treatment, had to restrict family support networks and had to deal with the economic hardships that the pandemic has caused.
This Christmas, we should all reflect on those less fortunate than us and The Vow of Silence is a way for each of us to bring some light into the lives of these families and show them we care.
Trying not to speak for an entire day is not an easy task. But hopefully it will help each of us reflect on what we take for granted each day. Through no fault of their own, others are not so fortunate.
