Story
We supported nearly 3,000 children in 2019. We are on track to support nearly double the number of children this year. The families we help are facing a range of challenges homelessness, unemployment, low wages and domestic violence. 1 in 3 of the families we support are homeless or living in temporary accommodation.
In normal times, families would visit us at our three main sites around London (in Camden, Wandsworth and Southwark). With the advent of coronavirus, weve had to temporarily close our doors to families and completely re-design our whole operation to become what were calling a #VirtualVillage.
We are currently operating a delivery service to those families most in need and were prioritising mums who are about to give birth, mums of new-borns and families with no items or clothes for their children. We provide really essential kit such as nappies, wipes, Moses baskets, cots, clothes bundles and hygiene products; most of the items we pass on have been donated to us by another family. We are currently using a mix of volunteer drivers and bicycle couriers as well as other forms of delivery to help us get the items to these families.
Were calling over 100 families each week, checking in with them about items they need, having a chat and signposting to further support where needed. We are in a unique position to be able to reach the families who need this support. We work with over 1100 professionals such as midwives, health visitors and other grassroots charities.
We promise you that every penny we raise will help us to help families through this very tough time.
