We are escaping lockdown and rowing/paddling, walking cycling, and walking the 16,521 km to Runcorn (near Brisbane) in Australia. We are fundraising to develop a new boathouse with a much needed gym, changing and community social area.
Runcorn Rowing club, Liverpool University and Runcorn Canoe Club run our training and water sessions from a number of buildings which are falling down and no longer suitable, in particular the gym and changing areas. We are fundraising to build a new boathouse, community social area, gym and changing rooms that will accessible and safe for all our members (in particular our junior and para members). These facilities are urgently needed. We have appointed architects and have already developed plans suitable for a planning application, but we need further funds to help us undertake baseline surveys and pay for the planning application.. We have created an event called 'Virtual Row to Australia', in which all our squads are competing to run, walk, cycle and paddle the 16,521km to Runcorn near Brisbane in Australia. We are asking for sponsorship for the miles we travel. Our target is to raise £10,000. We hope to arrive in Australia at Christmas for a virtual beach party.
