Story
The virtual half marathon is free of charge to enter, regardless of whether you had a place in this years Great North Run. Organisers are creating a special app to make the experience as close to the real event as possible and you will have an official 13.1 mile virtual race to complete on the day!
Through the challenges of recent months, many of us have come to appreciate just how important music is to our wellbeing. As live music events across the world were cancelled and postponed, we took to live stream events in our millions to experience the joy and connection that music can offer.
At Music in Hospitals & Care we were fortunate to be able to adapt our live music sessions to continue sharing Joy Through Live Music with people in care homes and hospitals, who have been even more isolated and vulnerable during this challenging time.
"The patients love the fact that it's live and that they can request songs and hear direct feedback from the musicians. It's the closest thing to live music for them in the wards due to the pandemic and we are all really thankful for that!" - Stephen Devine, Therapeutic Activity Nurse at Isla Ward, Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow.
We need your help so that we can continue to reach people with the healing power of live music. With so many of our planned fundraising activities cancelled or postponed, we are thrilled to be able to take part in this virtual Great North Run event.
We are so grateful for your support in taking part in this virtual event with us, and look forward to cheering you on!
