Story
So, we know things are strange right now, but we also think the amazing Exmouth and South West communities are up for a bit of positivity. So, we're taking the Exmouth Colour Bomb virtual and we need your help.
During Deaf Awareness Week, 4th-10th May, we're challenging you to have your own Colour Bomb day, dressing up in your most colourful gear, posting your photos and spreading the cheer. To support you we've got some downloadable hats for kids you can colour in and the most colourful fitness video. We've also got the colours in British Sign Language (BSL) for you to learn. Go on, raid that wardrobe, have some fun with the kids or colleagues, and spread some positivity.
During your Colour Bomb Day you could dress up in your most colourful outfits, colour in and wear our headgear, take part in the colourful workout, bake a colourful cake, make your home colourful with bunting and balloons, or get the face painting out. Have a virtual colourful party with friends, colleagues or grandparents and put a smile on everyone's face.
If you are able, please support young Deaf lives and help us raise our £10,000 Colour Bomb target.
Together, we fight isolation. #isolationbrave
This is an unprecedented time, and our thoughts are with many, from amazing NHS staff to struggling businesses, people in isolation and more.
At the Deaf Academy, we understand isolation. In everyday life, our amazing Deaf children and young people are frequently isolated as they struggle with a lack of language, social networks, understanding of their Deaf identity, and appropriate care and education.
Our goal is to change this. We welcome children from across the UK, all of whom are Deaf, and many of whom may have additional complex needs. The Deaf Academy is a unique place where Deaf children and young people aged five-25 are inspired to believe in themselves and journey towards successful independent lives. We have a strong reputation for engaging students who have struggled elsewhere in education.
Whilst the current situation means a delay to our amazing new Deaf Academy, we remain positive about opening soon, providing the facilities that help to support our amazing Deaf students and reduce isolation. If you are able, please donate during your Colour Bomb Day so we can fully equip the new Academy and change young Deaf lives.
