Story

Everyday life has changed quite quickly due to COVID-19. Events or activities that we take part in at the weekend and in our evenings have been cancelled, some people might be working from home, and were all wondering what we can do to make life feel as normal as possible.

However whilst life might have changed, the role of the hospital charity hasnt, we are still here to support and fund lifesaving equipment, research and items that enhance the stays of our patient, all of which is over and above what the NHS funds. But we cant do this without the support of people like you.

Thats why weve launched our Virtual 14 Day Challenge to give you the opportunity to do something different and raise money to support patients at our hospitals, whilst keeping yourself and everyone around you as safe as possible.
Understandably, some of the hospital charitys fundraising events have been put on hold, and sadly many of our fundraisers have had to postpone their events. There are still lots of things that you could do to support the work that the Charity does for the 20,000 members of staff, the two million patients we treat each year, and their families, at University Hospitals Birmingham.
With our Virtual 14 Day Challenge you can pick an activity to do in your spare time, or choose something to give up for two weeks, and ask your friends and family to sponsor you! You could try and cycle 200 miles in two weeks, either on the roads or on a static bike at home, you could give up your favourite snack or even make yourself a swear jar!

A Virtual Challenge is the perfect way to get your children involved in fundraising, whether thats through a sponsored read, or sponsoring them to do chores around the house; you can have fun and help to raise money to support patients across our hospitals.

Every year we are amazed at the number of people who take part in an event to raise money for the hospital charity, thanks to your efforts each year were able to go over and above for patients at the hospital. By taking on our Virtual 14 Day Challenge you can help us to continue to do more to go over and above to help staff, patients and visitors across University Hospitals Birmingham.
