Make this year's Santa Dash your challenge!
This year is our 13th annual Santa Dash. The event will look a little different as sadly we can't all be together BUT we are so excited to bring you our virtual Santa Dash. Make this your challenge, be as inventive as you like! You don't have to be the fastest runner or be able to climb the biggest mountain, just be able to move and have fun.
CancerCare has been working hard to continue to help people in their times of need during the COVID crisis. Our children's service has been especially busy and between August 19 to 20 we delivered 1,347 therapy sessions to youngsters whose lives have been turned upside down by the impact of cancer and bereavement in their families.
Now, we're asking you to help us cover 1,347 miles, the distance (as the reindeer flies) from Santa's home in Lapland to Lancaster via our centres in Kendal & Barrow!
The event is flexible, you can take part as many times as you like over the 6 week period from the 9 November to 20 December. Only miles accrued during this period will count but you can join whenever you like! 2020 has been a crazy year for everyone and we would like to work with you to end the year on a high, full of Christmas cheer!
You can run, jog, walk, skip or swim your miles. Don't forget to keep track of your miles through Strava or your chosen fitness app. Please email a screen shot of your miles covered and send them to fundraising@cancercare.org.uk. If you can't use a fitness app don't worry just email us the details along with a photo of your activity. You can submit your miles at any point during the challenge as many times as you like. We have a live spreadsheet which we will update regularly and the top 20 participants with the most miles achieved will receive a medal at the end of the challenge.
We would love to see all your 'Elfie Selfies' , photos of achievements along the way and there are prizes to be won. Join our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/336479517585967
"Peer Support Group is a safe place for young people who are affected by cancer or bereavement to shut off from all worries and troubles. A space to relax and connect with others. I believe feeling alone and the need to stay silent to be strong for others is exhausting. I also believe all of that can be helped to some amount by this amazing group of amazing people."
CancerCare is a local charity. 93% of CancerCare's work supporting local people affected by cancer or bereavement is funded by people like you who donate, fundraise or give a gift in their Will.
Without your support and raising these vital funds, CancerCare would not be here today. We can't thank you enough for your fundraising efforts and we are so excited to hear all about it. If you would like any advice or guidance from our Fundraising Team please feel free to email us - fundraising@cancercare.org.uk and don't forget to send us your photos and stories. We love to hear from our Fundraisers.
