Story

We're a charitable hospice rooted in the North East of England. We provide outstanding, specialist and expert care to adults and children with life-limiting conditions. We make the most of life and are a welcoming place; we strive to provide quality time for everyone.

We hope that your Trek challenge will be that little bit easier knowing the difference it will make, and well keep you up to date with stories from the hospice, from those you are supporting.

You're doing something incredible for local families and we think you are brilliant.

Riding a wave of happiness...

Keira is still riding on the biggest wave of her happiness following her surfing sessions last summer - thanks to the brilliant 'Chair Board' developed especially for our Children and Young Adults. Keira's not been able to surf before because she's got bad circulation but we arranged this activity for her and her big brother Louis. They had so much fun on the waves together. Keira's mam told us they loved it and wouldn't get another experience like it.

Care & support when it was most needed...

"In 2011, my hero of a Nana lost her battle with Motor Neurone Disease. At our side every step of the way during her illness were St Oswald's Hospice. Not only were the staff there dedicated to the care and support of my Nana when she was an inpatient, from early on in her diagnosis they provided community care, including communication aids when she became more unwell. They supported all of our family through her deterioration and helped her and us navigate her cruel illness."
