Story

Vega is a happy, sociable and very bright 3 year old girl. She lives with her parents, little sister and dog in Cheshire. She loves to play with her dog and sister and all things girly.

To communicate she uses an eye gaze device which tracks her eyes, her favourite game to play is “dressing up”.

Vega was born at full term after a healthy pregnancy, but due to complications she was born in very poor condition and required resuscitation, subsequent cooling and stayed for a month in hospital. The brain injury she acquired resulted in Dyskinetic Cerebral Palsy, which affects her whole body.

Vega works incredibly hard at home everyday with her mum. She is getting closer to her (short term) goals of independent sitting and army crawling. This is in part due to her first stem cell treatment in 2023 and her rigorous home program of several hours of therapy a day with mum and recent intensive therapy.

Since receiving her first round of stemcells, Vega has had amazing gains.

Improved feeding efficiency

More babbling

SO close to independent sitting

Stepping has improved

Overall strength and trunk control improved

Initiating army crawling

We can not wait to see which gains she will have next time, it is life changing.

Vega completed her first Intensive Therapy week with Smile Theray for Kids in February, and the gains are amazing. Trunk control, strength, step initiation and sitting has all improved.

Our hope is for Vega to receive more specialist intensive therapy, with Smile Therapy for Kids/ NAPA center/On the Fly DMI/All Kids Are Perfect/SwimLab International. As well as a feeding/speech intensive at either Napa/ Vital Stim Stafford or with Nancy from NJPFA.

Another dream for Vega would be to receive specialised neuro rehabilitation at NeuroSolutions Atlanta.

She also requires specialist orthotic suits (Theratogs), AFO’s (LOC consultancy London) and other specialist equipment. All of these things are unfortunately not available on the NHS.
