Story

We're ustwo games - a small, independent game studio in South London. As a team, we are really passionate about using our platform as game developers to create a positive impact in the world and we aim to use the games we make to connect with our broader commitments as a B-Corp - always looking at ways we can positively impact People and Planet.

Desta: The Memories Between is our latest project, a turn-based tactics game which explores themes of anxiety, self-reflection, loss, regret and identity. Through the eyes of Desta, players are able to play-out and explore relationships and issues faced by many young people today, all through a mysterious - and strategic - ball-game.

We wanted to find a partner to help us ensure that safe, supportive spaces and services continue to exist for young people; a place where children and young adults of all ages are able to find the support they need to thrive, to find shelter, comfort or a safe place to explore these issues when they need it most.

For many young people their youth worker is the only person they openly talk to, and their youth organisation is the only safe space they have to be heard and to explore their character on their own terms.

We discovered from conversations with UK Youth that the Youth Sector in the UK is in crisis following years of underfunding, and now with the challenges of the cost of living crisis, running these essential centres has become more difficult than ever. To survive the cost of living crisis, youth organisations need help towards funding basic, essential services, such as covering the costs of heating and hot water, helping ensure the youth workers themselves are no longer reliant on food banks, and so much more.

To help address this, and to support the essential services of the youth sector in the UK - ustwo games will be donating over £100,000 to fund youth initiatives in partnership with UK Youth.

We hope that through raising awareness, Desta's story will inspire and mobilise our players, community and the wider industry to join us in this action to support the UK Youth Sector. Any donations that are raised through our campaign - we will match funds up to £20,000!

Please help ustwo games to achieve this goal, and donate what you can today to help protect the youth sector in the UK and support the incredible work of UK Youth.

This programme with UK Youth helped me come out of my shell. It was an instant family-like environment... A few months ago I had no idea this support existed and it has completely changed my life!" - Participant in a UK Youth programme.

£15 could fund a young person worried about the cost of living crisis to have a wellbeing session with a youth worker.

£20 could give a young person struggling at school access to a safe space, to develop their skills with other young people in their area.

£50 could help a youth centre with essential maintenance costs keeping their centre fit to run.

£150 could help a young person who has no trusted adults in their life, to be mentored by a trained youth worker.

£500 could help a youth club with their energy bills, keeping the heating on so young people have somewhere safe and warm to go this winter.
