A dementia-friendly community provides HOPE beyond the diagnosis. Globally, UQ is the first university to establish a Dementia Friendly University Initiative. Your support will positively change lives of people living with and impacted by dementia.
UQ Dementia Friendly University Initiative aims to include and improve support for people living with and impacted by dementia. Your donation will help drive a living guide for a dementia inclusive university engaging across UQ’s teaching and learning, research, community engagement and partnerships.
We aim to support people living with dementia, their families and care supporters connected with UQ. We also intend to aid UQ staff and students impacted by dementia.
Your support will directly assist in appropriate environmental changes, and staff training to facilitate a dementia friendly university community. This initiative will increase involvement of people living with dementia in research and other UQ activities. It will upskill the next generation of workforce graduating from university degrees by incorporating appropriate dementia specific knowledge transfer activities.
UQ’s significant commitment pioneers the way for others to embrace greater inclusivity.
“For both the person living with dementia and those who live alongside them, a dementia- friendly community provides HOPE beyond the diagnosis. Hope that they can positively continue to engage with their community.” – Glenys and John, dementia advocates.
