The suffering in Palestine and Gaza has weighed heavy on our hearts over Eid. As we gathered with family and friends to celebrate, it is hard to forget what is happening to our brothers and sisters during one of the most blessed times in our calendar.

SubhanAllah, you have been so generous towards Masjid Al-Aqsa and her caretakers over Ramadan and now we are appealing to you to continue supporting them.

Here are three ways you can make a difference:

1. Gaza Fund

Gaza was in dire need even before the latest crisis and the recent escalation is causing devastation on a scale not seen since the assault on Gaza in 2014. 119 people have been killed, including 27 children, and 600 people have been wounded so far. [BBC]

Your regular donations to the Gaza Fund will initially provide food and emergency medical care, while helping our partner set up long-term relief for families in the strip.

2. Sponsor a family

This year, our partner in Jerusalem ran out of Zakat for the first time in 30 years, due to restrictions on international visitors. By setting up a monthly payment, you can help them ensure that the guardians of Al-Aqsa have the essentials they need to care for themselves and their families.

It is important to maintain the good habits we built in Ramadan, such as giving regular charity. In fact, continuing our good deeds is actually a sign that our Ramadan was accepted! Allah (swt) loves constancy in righteous actions and He gives sincere hearts more opportunities to do good, alhamdulillah!

3. Sponsor an orphan

83% of Palestinians in Jerusalem struggle to afford basic necessities. This is even more difficult for families who have lost their main breadwinner. Your can provide a vulnerable orphan with nutritious food, medical check-ups and education, helping them fulfil their potential and build a better future

4. Plant Olive Trees

A massive 20% of Palestines fragile agricultural economy is based on olive tree cultivation. By giving to our olive tree project, you will be providing a sustainable livelihood for Palestinian farmers, allowing them to provide for their families, as well as produce good quality produce for the local community, all at an affordable rate.

This gift will provide food, oil and medicine for hundreds of years, helping to sustain generations to come. The trees are planted twice a year and take between 3-5 years to start bearing fruit.
