Story

Standing with Gabriel: A Leader’s Road to Recovery

The Man Who Leads the Charge

Gabriel Hernandez has dedicated his life to a singular mission: protecting those who protect us. As a police officer and the President of the Asociación de Policías Unidos Luchando (APUL) in Puerto Rico, Gabriel has been a tireless advocate for the rights, safety, and well-being of his fellow first responders. He is the first person to step forward when a brother or sister in uniform is in need.

Today, Gabriel is the one who needs us to step forward.

The Challenge Ahead

Gabriel is currently facing a significant health battle that requires major intestinal surgery. Under the care of a Hackensack Hospital in New Jersey, he faces a difficult recovery period expected to last between six and eight weeks following the surgery.

During this time, Gabriel is unable to work. For a family man, this is the heaviest burden of all. Gabriel is a devoted husband and the proud father of a young daughter with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The financial strain of mounting medical bills, combined with the loss of income while he focuses on his health, creates a mountain that no one should have to climb alone.

Our Mission: A Bridge to Healing

We are raising funds to serve as a bridge for the Hernandez family during this critical window of recovery. Gabriel has spent years ensuring that "Policías Unidos" means no officer stands alone. Now, we are putting those words into action.

Your donations will go directly toward:

Medical Expenses: Offsetting the costs of his surgery and post-operative care.

Family Support: Providing for his family’s daily needs while Gabriel is out of work.

Living Essentials: Ensuring the family can focus on Gabriel’s healing without the weight of financial debt.

How You Can Stand With Him

Gabriel has asked for two things: support and prayers. Whether you can give $10 or $1,000, every dollar is a message of solidarity to a man who has given so much to the Puerto Rican community and the first responder family. If you cannot give financially, please share this page and keep Gabriel and his family in your thoughts as he begins this journey toward recovery.

Gabriel has always led the fight for others. Today, let’s win this fight for him.
