The Umoja Center for Pan African Student Excellence builds on a legacy of empowerment, community, and academic success. Originally established as the African American Center for Academic Excellence in 2015, the Center has been a vital space for students of the African diaspora—offering mentorship, cultural programming, and academic support. Its transition to the Umoja Center reflects a deepened commitment to unity, growth, and development of Black communities through education.
By giving to this campaign, you directly support transformative programs like the annual Black Graduation Celebration, which honors the achievements of Black-identified students as they prepare to take their next steps after college. Your gift also provides essential funding for Black student-run clubs, ensuring these spaces remain strong, vibrant, and resourced for generations.
All students, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin, who are interested in the Umoja Center and our services are welcome to join. Not holding an identity of African heritage does not disqualify anyone from participation in any events or programs, such as Black Graduation Celebration. We value cultural exchange and invite people from other backgrounds to ground with us.
