The Challenge….

Standing on top of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, gives an amazing sense of achievement. At 1344m (4409ft) above sea level located in the Western Highlands of Scotland, Ben Nevis rises from sea level at Loch Linnhe and towers over the town of Fort William. This is a magnificent mountain with 360 degrees of stunning scenery and there is snow on the summit for much of the year! If you are lucky with the weather, then the views from the summit are quite stunning. On a good day, you can see all the way to the Isle of Skye and down Loch Linnhe to the Irish Sea. Ben Nevis is truly an amazing mountain. The hike is approximately an 11-mile trek and can take between 6-10 hours. The key to this event is to build up stamina and develop ‘staying power’, ideally by the time you come to do this trek, you will be comfortable walking distances of around 10 miles over rough ground. If you are not a regular outdoor walker start off with 3 or 4 miles and work up to longer distances with height gain over rough terrain

Itinerary:

Meet your mountain leader at the base of Ben Nevis. Your ascent and descent following a route from the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre will take approximately 6-10 hrs, the key to progress on a mountain is steady pacing and not speed and pause. Finish the challenge and celebrate your achievement!
