Story
How will you feel when you wake up on Christmas morning? Hopefully, you’ll be somewhere you feel comfortable, safe and loved, looking forward to spending the day with family and friends.
Hundreds of homeless people in Kent will wake up freezing, forgotten and alone – just like every other day. Another day just trying to survive.
Your support is urgently needed. Sleeping out in the cold can kill. If you’re homeless in the UK, the average life expectancy is just 42 if you’re a woman and just 46 if you’re a man (Crisis Homelessness: causes, types and facts).
Porchlight turns 50 this year – that's 50 years of changing lives. It's a significant milestone highlighting the lifesaving work they do every day, and everything the charity has achieved over the past five decades.
But it's not a moment to celebrate. Not while homelessness is at an all-time high, demand for mental health services is on the rise and more people are being pushed into poverty.
Everybody deserves to have someone on their side when life gets tough. Porchlight is determined to use all of their experience to help anyone facing poverty or inequality in health and housing.
With your help they can be there for the people that need help most.
