Story
At a time when a balanced, reliable and nuanced presentation of Ukraine’s history, culture and place in the world is more important than ever, the Ukrainian Institute London (UIL) offers integrity and independence.
In 2025, our programme of over 60 events, courses and projects reached thousands of people and amplified the conversation about Ukraine, bringing expertise, experience and creativity to these discussions. Speakers included Dmytro Kuleba, Clive Myrie, Oleksandra Matviychuk, Luke Harding and Serhii Plokhii, among others, addressing topics ranging from the nuclear arms race to justice in times of war. Press coverage and our social-media reach broadened the conversation to tens of thousands more. This extensive programme was only possible thanks to the generosity of our supporters.
Between now and 31 January 2026, we are aiming to raise £5,000 to ensure that the Ukrainian Institute London continues to shed light on Ukraine’s culture, history and current affairs in 2026. By donating today, you will help us deliver an even richer programme of events, reach a broader range of audiences, and give Ukraine an even stronger voice in the UK.
How your donation will make a difference:
- £25 could provide a Ukrainian language lesson, increasing understanding of Ukraine.
- £50 could cover the cost of a place at the biannual fundraising events for a displaced Ukrainian.
- £150 could contribute to the premises licence for the UIL Annual Film Festival, helping to showcase Ukrainian cinema.
- £250 could subsidise the fee for a UIL educational course for a low-income student, spreading knowledge about Ukraine’s history and culture.
- £350 could enable the hire of a venue for an event, giving a platform to Ukrainian voices in the UK.
- £500 could allow a speaker to travel from Ukraine, bringing their experience and insights to London audiences.
We are grateful to everyone in the UIL community for helping to keep Ukraine at the centre of today’s most important discussions.
