An unpaid carers survey in 2023/24 found that carers of patients at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) felt more could be done to offer support whilst they care for their loved ones in hospital. This campaign for a carers' shower, supported by the League of Friends of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, will help improve the experience of carers at UHS by offering them a dedicated shower and dressing room.

This project promises to improve care, comfort, and experience for the unpaid carers workforce that continue to support patients whilst they are in hospital. The partnership working between the Patient & Family Support Hub and the League of Friends, as well as the generosity offered to us in this campaign, will drive comprehensive improvement in carer experience and help ensure that important holistic care and support is available.
