Story
Join us in the birthday celebrations of Rugby School (celebrating 200 years of rugby) and Wooden Spoon (celebrating 40 years) and help us raise funds for vulnerable children and young people across the UK & Ireland.
On Easter Saturday, 8th April 2023, 16 U11 teams will be having a fun day of rugby football on the birthplace of the game, The Close, Rugby School.
This mixed 9-a-side festival will enable young people to come together and enjoy a sport that is celebrating its 200th anniversary. The game of rugby football has since proven to be a sport that brings communities together and shows support for others. Both the Wooden Spoon and Rugby School share the same ethos of wanting to help and give back.
Friends and family are encouraged to come and watch and enjoy a wonderful atmosphere on The Close. Food and beverages will be on sale. Further details can be found here. https://www.rugbyschool.co.uk/events/u11s-club-festival/
All money raised will be split between Wooden Spoon and the 1823 bursary at Rugby School.
The funds you raise will enable Wooden Spoon to fund life-changing projects across the UK and Ireland that transform the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
Established in 2023 to celebrate the bicentenary of Rugby Football, the 1823 Bursary Fund will offer means-tested places at Rugby School for boys or girls who show significant promise and aptitude for sport and a commitment to Rugby Football, with up to 100% of fees and essential extras available. The 1823 Bursary will open the doors of Rugby to young people, coming from the UK, with a real passion for the sport.
