Story
Tyron Stalberg has always been a true shining light in this world, and we miss his presence, his guidance, and his friendship dearly. We're hoping to deliver a project in Tyron's honour, embracing his legacy and passion for supporting those young people most at need in his local community.
Tyron supported The Mason Foundation since its inception, and he was always there for us as our biggest supporter and cheerleader! He helped us in the early days of the charity forming, to build connections, networks, and helping to raise our profile.
He has always been so passionate about supporting those most at need, with such a drive for helping people who perhaps didn't have the best start in life. He saw their strengths and desperately wanted to help in creating opportunities for them to grow, develop, and thrive.
The Mason Foundation's mission aligns so well with Tyron's, and we are incredibly thankful to have had his unwavering support for the last 6+ years. Our main intiatives that were so close to his heart, are The Community Mile and Propel.
The Community Mile programme is delivered in partnership with local grass roots organisations, supporting vulnerable communities to come together and do 'Their Mile, Their Way'. Over the years this has been in the form of many different activities, including table tennis (a personal favourite of Tyron's), Zumba, skipping, rounders, nature trails, and much more. The Community Mile breaks down barriers in communities, and acts as a starting point for physical activity to improve overall wellbeing and social connection amongst people, making a positive difference to their lives.
Our Propel Programme supports young people aged 13-25, who are neurodivergent or living with learning disabilities, to flourish within a diverse and inclusive workforce. We support these individuals by providing training to schools and colleges, and bridging the gap between the school and local businesses. We empower employees within the business to be a mentor and champion for these local, vulnerable young people, providing them with career opportunities that they may otherwise not have had.
Tyron always embraced social impact and made it a core part of everything he did in his role at VINCI Facilities. He lived and breathed our work, always making it a priority by meeting with us fortnightly to explore how the work of The Foundation and delivery of social value could be a core part of every contract he was working on. He did this because he genuinely cared, and wanted to ensure everything he did had a social purpose. A purpose very close to our hearts.
He talked openly about his upbringing and how his wonderful Mum fought hard to give him an education and opportunities, despite their humble beginnings. He understood first hand what it was like being born into a family facing financial challenges, and the importance of the education and opportunities he was given.
Tyron made it his life's mission to help as many people as he could, to have opportunities to live happier, healthier, and more fulfilled lives. We feel so incredibly lucky to have worked with someone as kind, passionate, and driven as Tyron, and the endless support, connections and advice he gifted us with. He truly was one in a million and we will ensure his legacy continues through our work at The Mason Foundation.
Our plan at this time is to deliver a legacy project in honour and memory of Tyron and his wonderful work. We hope to collaborate with the schools in Tyron's local area, particularly those where he was a school Governor, supporting vulnerable young students who have additional learning needs.
We would love to create a memorial garden with these young people as part of the project, helping them to develop their vocational skills outside of the classroom, and build pathways for young people into the workplace. through our partnership with VINCI Facilities.
We know Tyron would have wholeheartedly championed this project, and we are deeply saddened that he will not be here in person to witness it unfolding. We hope he is cheerleading us on, as always, to continue his incredible legacy, and we hope more than anything that we make him proud.
Your support will never ever be forgotten Tyron, thank you for believing in us and championing us from Day One. We owe so much of our success as a charity to you, our dear friend.
