For 45 years we’ve led the way in supporting autistic and neurodivergent individuals, and their families, across the North East of England. We work to create a society where autism is understood and accepted, inclusion is the norm, and autistic people can lead fulfilled lives.

Story

On 21 and 22 August 2021, a 20+ strong team of enthusiastic cyclists will ride 170 miles in the Tyne Confluence Sportive, to raise vital funds for North East Autism Society.

The route will cover the sources of the North and South Tyne Rivers before following the River Tyne to the North Sea at Tynemouth. Day one will see the riders set off from Hexham and head through the North Pennines, tracing the South Tyne River to Garrigill, Cumbria. From here, they'll head back North, via Haltwhistle, and pick up the North Tyne River, following it to the overnight stop in Bellingham, Northumberland. Day two will start with a sharp blast up to Kielder Water before following the North Tyne River back to Hexham, from where the team will then follow the combined River Tyne all the way to the North Sea at Tynemouth.

All funds raised from the challenge will support North East Autism Society, which for more than 40 years, has led the way in providing autism-specific care and education for children and young people across the North East of England.

Recognised for innovation and excellence, everything the charity does stems from an unswerving belief in providing bespoke, person-centred support. It's at their heart to recognise and celebrate the uniqueness of every human being, and to understand that no two people, within an understanding of neurodiversity, will have the same needs or wants.

NEAS passionately believes that autistic children and young adults have significant skills and strengths, which can be developed throughout their lifetime.

Thank you for your support.
