There’s one set of twins, triplets or more born every hour in the UK. Our research shows that families with multiples face unique social, economic and health challenges. That means that every hour, a new set of multiples is born facing these challenges.
This week, we’re asking you to give an hour of your time during Twins, Triplets and More week (24 – 30 June) to raise funds to support families facing these challenges. We’ll ask you either donate in this hour or see what you can achieve – and get sponsored to do so.
Every pound donated will be doubled, so your fundraising efforts will have twice the impact, or even more with Gift Aid!
We need to raise £20,000 this week to ensure:
- Our helpline is open day and night
- When families are in the depth of crisis, they have somewhere to turn
- Our community is heard by the new Government
Our research shows that multiple birth families:
- Are confronted by more than double the financial impact
- Are more likely to have a mental health emergency, in first two years post-birth
- Face higher rates of stillbirth and neonatal death
Here are some ideas of things you could do and get sponsored;
* Swim or run or walk or scoot or cycle for an hour
* Sing or dance for an hour
* Give up tech/stay silent or read for an hour
* Help with household chores or help in the garden or tidy up your local neighbourhood for an hour
* Are your children too young – get sponsored to push them in a double buggy / carry them / tidy up the neighbourhood etc.
Are you in Surrey? Come and make a difference by spending an hour (or more) at Virginia Water, completing the Walk for Twins Trust on 29 June. Sign up - https://www.twinstrust.org/walk-for-twins-trust
Special thank you to our lead partner Irwin Mitchell for all their support of our campaign.
