Story
Thames Valley Harriers (TVH) is a Community Amateur Sports Club run by volunteers, based at the Linford Christie Stadium in West London, providing athletics coaching and competitions for everyone from local children to international athletes.
We rely heavily on donations and fund raising events to achieve this and have had to postpone planned fund raising events.
We are asking TVH athletes, members and supporters to take part in the TVH 2.6 Challenge with all money raised through the TVH 2.6 Challenge (donations and gift aid) for both TVH and the Care Workers' Charity (CWC). The Care Workers Charity have launched a Covid 19 Appeal to provide crisis grants to care workers, many of whom are agency staff on low wages who have no income when self-isolating. https://www.thecareworkerscharity.org.uk/
All funds raised by you in the TVH 2.6 Challenge will be shared between TVH and the Care Workers Charity; 50% to TVH and 50% to the Care Workers Charity.
The 2.6 Challenge has been set up to help charities raise funds during the Covid 19 crisis and takes the marathon distance (26 miles) as the number to base challenges on; performing a challenge 26 times, please see 2.6 Challenge website for more details https://twopointsixchallenge.justgiving.com/
Challenges could be based on a current training activity for an individual, a family or a training group of athletes completing a virtual relay challenge; it's up to you as long as you are careful to observe current social distancing guidance. It can be a short activity or a challenge that takes place over a few days, as long as your challenge is completed before the end of June.
It only takes a few minutes to set up a fund raising page, just click on Start Fundraising and login with your JustGiving account. Good luck and thank you for supporting TVH and CWC.
