Story
By helping establish and manage primary education facilities, New Ways is supporting the local communities in Turkana, Northern Kenya, by enabling their young people take opportunities in education that their parents never had access to. The provision of these materials encourages these children to attend school more regularly and incentivizes them to focus better during lessons, making a positive impact on their academic achievement. This is especially important because the success of education projects among the Turkana largely depends on the value the locals place on the importance of education, this makes it vitally important that pupils remain within their communities after finishing their education.
However, this all begins by ensuring children have the basic materials for an education including writing and reading materials as well as uniforms and shoes. This is important because some parents lack the means to send their children to schools even when they want to. Your support will allow us to encourage social and economic development in the region through former pupils staying within their community to work after school.
This year marks 25 years since our first project was funded and so we are celebrating by fundraising for some of our ongoing projects.
