Tuesday's Child gives a helping hand to children exhausted by war, poverty and injustice in different countries of the world. We fundraise to provide essentials for life - food, clean water, shelter, medicines, education, play and leisure and respond to humantarian disasters affecting children.

Story

Tuesday’s Child has been helping children living under siege in the Gaza strip since August 2007. The Gaza Strip is 26 miles long and 4-6 miles wide.

The call to help children in Gaza came from the shores of Galilee in June 2007. The inspiration for Tuesday's Child came the previous year in May 2006 during a first pilgrimage to Medjugorje where Our Lady Queen of Peace first appeared to six little children in June 1981. Tuesday's Child first visited Gaza on 31 August 2008.

Gaza is the most densely child populated place in the world. There are more children living here per square mile than in any other country or state. Children live in already terrible conditions denied basic human rights for life and are trapped between two sealed borders where transfers out of Gaza for life saving medical treatment for children are also often refused. Families live trapped in large cage. In 2007, the parish priest of Gaza said "what is happening in Gaza is a slow genocide, children are being directly targeted and we are also being deprived of food and water".

Many children are malnourished and deeply traumatised from ongoing inhumane and collective punishment by occupying forces. The killing and wounding of children has become a blood sport and international media turns a blind eye to the reality of atrocities and breaches of international humanitarian law.

On 7 October 2023, Israel declared war on Gaza following an escalation of violence in Israel and horrific terrorist attacks by Palestinian militants in Israel taking innocent children into Gaza as hostages, an act of sheer terror against Israeli children. Israel responded aggressively.

When Israel punishes Gaza, it is a collective punishment of a mostly civilian population and children suffer the most. It is thought that at least 16,000 children have been killed and 25,000 children thousands of children are wounded. Many more are trapped under the rubble and reported missing. Children are not militants.

On 15 January 2025 a ceasefire finally came with hope for a lasting peace. On 18th March, eve of the Solemnity of St. Joseph, the truce was broken and more children were killed in Gaza on one day than any other day in its history.

Hospitals report that 70 percent of the injured are women and children. Statistics do not take into account babies who have died in the womb when their mothers have been killed. Hospitals are currently in dire need of fuel to continue and some hospitals have stopped functioning.

Doctors have been killed. Ambulances have also been shelled and paramedics killed. Journalists have also been killed. NGO workers have been killed. The bombs continue to rain down on a strip of land that does not have an airstrip. It is not known how many are buried in the rubble as residential building after building crumbles.

Aid volunteers say that 90 percent of people are homeless. Families are told to evacuate their homes but they have nowhere to flee to as borders are sealed. Food prices in shops have soared and families cannot find enough water. Bakeries have been targeted and bombed. A supermarket after receiving a large delivery of flour and was bombed.

Alarmingly the water supply into Gaza is limited. There is no electricity plunging the strip into complete darkness at night and adding to the terror of little children.

Families seeking shelter in schools are being shelled. Schools sheltering children and their families continue to be bombed. Emergency relief tents sheltering families continue to be bombed. Illegal white phosphorus is being dropped in civilian areas yet again causing horrific burns. It is not the first time illegal white phosphorus has been dropped on civilians in the Gaza Strip.is using as testing ground for illegal weapons.

This is the fifth war on Gaza and by far the worst. As in each war it is children who are suffering the most.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Tuesday’s Child. This emergency appeal is to provide essentials for children and their families living yet again through a nightmare.

100 percent of donations will go to aid relief.

May the Holy Family of Nazareth who fled from Bethlehem to Egypt via Gaza and returned to Nazareth also via Gaza pray for all children persecuted by modern day Herods on both sides of this brutal conflict.

This appeal gives 100 percent of donations so there is no need to give the donation platform a percentage. There is an option to over ride to zero.

Let us pray and fast for an immediate ceasefire! Our Lady of Medjugorje, Queen of Peace, has said fasting can suspend even wars.

Peace, peace, peace!

Thank you
