On 2nd August 2009 the world changed forever. Our founder, Mel, and her husband Baz, welcomed Finley silently into the world after 41 weeks and 5 days of perfect, problem free pregnancy. It was such a shock, as Mel needed surgery to try to save Finley, but she woke up to learn that he never would. The 3 days they spent in hospital are days that they treasure, where they made memories together. They collected casts and prints, a lock of hair, bathed and dressed him, gave him jewellery and teddies that they kept a matching set. They went home broken hearted - but comforted by the care. It soon became clear that 13 years ago this wasn't the norm for every family. With funds raised at Finley's funeral, they collected items and supplied the first memory making kits to Musgrove.
13 years on and Towards Tomorrow Together provides Somerset Hospitals with Memory Boxes for families at the point of loss, resources and training, and walk with families through their grief journey funding therapies and counselling, and support through any future pregnancies.
