Story
The Rickmansworth & Watford Sea Cadets is a charity giving young people aged 10-18 the opportunity to build confidence, skills and resilience through experiences in a safe and friendly environment, helping them to grow into the person they want to be.
We are based in T.S. Renown in Croxley Green and meet at least twice weekly throughout the year for our young people to try new experiences and learn new skills that they may not otherwise have access to. Many of our activities have a nautical theme, for example sailing, seamanship (knots and rigging), navigation, meteorology, and basic marine engineering, and provide cadets with a variety of skills and learning opportunities they may not otherwise have access to. We also teach general life skills such as first aid, leadership development and catering, and can offer cadets the opportunity to achieve qualifications such as NVQs and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
As an independent charity, Rickmansworth & Watford Sea Cadets is run entirely by volunteers and is responsible for all its own costs (building maintenance, utilities, boat purchase and repairs, etc.). We do not receive any direct funding, instead relying on donations, fundraising activities and grants. We request cadets to pay a small subscription fee, but financial pressures should never prevent a young person from participating and having access to the opportunities and skills we can offer.
The generosity of your donations is vital to our existence - it ensures our doors remain open, we stay afloat and we continue to offer an excellent experience to our young people.
