SECURING THE FUTURE OF TRINITY THEATRE 2023
We are raising money to enable Trinity Theatre to continue to deliver high quality cultural experiences for all ages for residents of and visitors to Tunbridge Wells.
In 2019 Trinity Theatre was doing well, after 37 years of operation, it continued to provide a warm, friendly cultural programme for Tunbridge Wells and whilst some years were more successful than others, there was a strong sense of identity, of community and a recognition of its importance in the cultural landscape of the town.
A year later, like theatres across the UK and beyond, everything stopped. It was a time of unprecedented firsts for the country. A pandemic like nothing that had been experienced for hundreds of years, a lot of decisions had to be made quickly and without knowing quite what the outcome might be and whether anything would ever return to normal.
After a tentative re-opening Trinity started 2022 with a sense of optimism about the future, with a new Artistic Director in place and an exciting programme of new events. The Government provided support via Arts Council England to assist theatres like Trinity to re-emerge from the dark times, but during the course of 2022 with significantly lower audience numbers that had been anticipated we soon realised that we were going to need more than the support offered and the optimism shared amongst our staff and volunteers in order to complete this transition year and secure a robust future.
We need to reach the end of 2022/23 without debt and giving ourselves the best chance of a future with a dynamic new website to help us perpetuate a positive future
To continue to develop our offer with strict financial controls in place in order to ensure sustainability throughout 2023 and deliver high quality cultural experiences and events for Tunbridge Wells and beyond
During the past two years, cultural industries have had to change and adapt to new ways of working and we are determined that Trinity will rise again and be a beacon of community arts for another forty years.
Please help us do that
