Story
Access Sport is on a mission to help the UK get back to physical and mental health and wellbeing this summer.
As we emerge from lockdown and witness a summer of elite sport from UEFA Euro 2020 to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we want to help get the nation active, including the thousands of disabled and disadvantaged young people who even prior to Covid-19 were denied opportunities in sport.
To do this, we are supporting a series of events and activities that everyone can get involved with, to join in the fitness drive while raising money to help Access Sport create new opportunities where they are most needed.
Tri-with-Access Sport
To launch #SummerOfSport, Access Sport Trustee, Matthew Dawson, is taking part in three phenomenal endurance challenges the ultimate cycling, swimming and running triathlon:
Bike from East Coast to West Coast - 335Km
Swim the length of Lake Windermere - 17km
Run the London Marathon - 26.2 Miles
You can follow Matthew's challenges on Twitter at #TriWithAccessSport.
We invite you to participate alongside Matthew in a way that suits you. Some ideas include:
1. Cycle June do your own cycle in June on your own, in a group, with friends/colleagues on the roads, at a BMX track or at home on Zwift
2. Swim August do your own swimming challenge, in a pool / in the sea / wherever you like, however you like
3. Run October any distance, indoors on a treadmill / outdoors / on your own or in a group celebrate the 40th anniversary of the London Marathon on 3rd October by joining in
4. Or try any other sport and set up your own sporting challenge any time between June and October!
All money raised will enable us to help create new sports opportunities for disadvantaged and disabled young people who would otherwise not have the chance to play.
