From visual impairment to visual empowerment: Heart-wrenching journey of our recently treated patient Umar...

My name is Umar. At 16, I began working after my beloved Mum passed away and we lost our emotional and financial pillar of strength. She sewed clothes for local women and without the extra income, Dad struggled. I gave up school and my dreams to help my Dad and support my siblings. Only Mum knew my dream of becoming an Engineer and it seemed to be lost forever.

Recently, my left eye started hurting and blurred my vision. Fear consumed me—I missed Mum's comforting presence. Reluctantly, I shared my plight with Dad. His crestfallen face revealed our financial struggle to afford treatment and even a roof over our heads.

Then, a miracle happened. A relative told us about the LRBT free eye hospital in Mandra. Skeptical but desperate, Dad took me there. The doctors were kind and diagnosed me, providing free treatment and medicines. They monitored my healing progress closely with love and compassion. I've been given a second chance to fulfill the dream Mum and I had.
