Story

Child Bereavement UK is challenging you to Trek to the top of Kilimanjaro! This is your chance to set you and your family an imaginative challenge, keep those well-intentioned January fitness goals going and the kids occupied during the school holidays.

Taking part is simple. On your own or as a family, just complete 128,263 steps over 30 days that's the average number of steps you need to take to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain.

There are lots of easy ways to up your step count, like leaving the car at home and making walking part of your daily commute to work or dropping the kids to school or activities. If you're working from home, set a daily timer that reminds you to move every half hour. Walk a bit further whenever you can or livestream a workout! By making some small changes you can notch up those extra steps in no time! Check out our resources to help you here: https://www.childbereavementuk.org/kilimanjaro-resources.

Your fundraising will help us support even more bereaved families and children. Since the pandemic began, our bereavement services team has seen an increase in families contacting us for support at a much earlier point in their bereavement, They are also experiencing more complex grief as a result of coronavirus restrictions, such as not being able to be with the person who died, not being able to have the funeral they wanted, and reduced access to usual support networks.

The challenges will undoubtedly continue in the wake of the pandemic. Without our incredible fundraisers taking on challenges like yourself, we wouldn't be able to continue to provide the much needed bereavement support to families, children and young people when a child dies or when a child is grieving, so thank you.

Take on the challenge and help Child Bereavement UK rebuild lives.
