Story
Since Trans Pride N.I returned in 2022 after COVID19 put a pause on our yearly festival we've ran since 2018, we've come back bigger & better every year!
We've grown Trans Pride N.I from a scant handful of events and a small gathering to a week-long jam-packed festival culminating in a large rally at Writer's Square with a professional stage to amplify and uplift performances and speeches from members of the trans, non-binary & intersex community.
But as we build Trans Pride N.I as a festival each year, so too do costs rise - which is where your donations are needed!
To make this year's rally a reality we desperately need money for:
- £3,000 for our stage & sound system
- £450 for BSL interpretation
- £300 AccessoLoo (accessible porta-loo)
Any additional funds raised will either be used to financially support this or the next years festival.
In the past year it's become increasingly difficult for trans, non-binary & intersex people including
- A ban on puberty blockers for trans, non-binary & intersex people
- The UK Supreme Court ruling that woman is strictly defined by biological sex, essentially erasing the purpose of Gender Recognition Certificate, helping to embolden discrimination & harassment of trans, non-binary & intersex people just trying to live their everyday lives.
- The continued inaccessibility of life-saving gender affirming healthcare via the NHS Gender Identity Clinic
- The ever increasing hostile environment for trans, non-binary & intersex people fueled by the endlessly toxic debate around our community.
