Cal Poly Humboldt Giving Day 2025 · 2 April 2025 ·
College is expensive, and it probably always will be. For many students, this proves an overwhelming barrier to completing their degrees. Many start at a community college before transferring to Cal Poly Humboldt. For these transfer students, the transition involves not only moving schools but also moving homes.
Previous support systems are often far away, and they find themselves starting over in a community where their peers have already had two years to adjust. Many transfer students are also responsible for covering their expenses, adding layers of stress as they juggle school, work, and the challenge of securing housing.
To ease this transition, programs are being developed to connect transfer students with professional development opportunities, campus resources, and each other. Funding helps make this possible by supporting events like craft nights and catered workshops—giving students a reason to show up, build connections, and create a new support system.
This kind of support also helps relieve the financial strain of daily expenses, allowing students to prioritize their education. It opens the door for them to engage in research, clubs, sports, and volunteer work—experiences that shape well-rounded individuals and future leaders in their fields.
Make a gift today and help transfer students find their footing, build community, and focus on what matters most—their education.
