Story
The Vision:
Brighton Toy and Model Museum is leading a regeneration plan for the upper section of Trafalgar Street, aiming to transform it into a vibrant pedestrian gateway to the North Laine. Currently, the area suffers from boarded-up arches and graffiti, creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. We plan to replace these boarded-up arches with ornamental framed glasswork, reminiscent of the interwar years, restoring the area's charm and historical significance and are looking to raise the initial £10,000 with your support.
Why It Matters:
This section of Trafalgar Street holds significant historical importance, dating back to the 1841 station era. It was once a bustling gateway for travellers, but over time, neglect and urban decay have taken their toll. By revitalizing this area, we not only restore its heritage but also create a welcoming entrance for tourists arriving in Brighton.
Our Solution:
We propose refitting the arches with ornamental framed glasswork, reminiscent of the interwar era when the station entrance was active. This will not only beautify the area but also deter graffiti and vandalism, making it a safer and more inviting space for locals and tourists alike. With your support, we can bring this vision to life and turn Trafalgar Street into a vibrant hub once again.
How You Can Help:
Your contribution will go directly towards the restoration efforts, including the installation of framed glasswork, preservation of historical elements, and ongoing maintenance. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to our goal of revitalizing Brighton's historic gateway.
