Story
This holiday season, we would like to provide children in need not only with a toy, but with the knowledge that members of our community care. As the Business and Entrepreneurship Club at Harper, we wanted to use our skills to improve our community. We are raising funds to create toys using Harper's MakerSpace. The MakerSpace has been expanding its usage of recycled material. This is one of the many projects the MakerSpace is involved in (harpercollege.edu/maker ). It is inspired by IC3D, a company in Ohio changing the culture of production using 3D printing. 3D printing not only allows donations to go farther, it allows for increased diversity in the toys that are contributed.
Toys will be donated to Toys for Tots, a national organization with local campaigns in over 800 communities. They are dependent on local donations to support their mission of providing toys to needy children. Especially after the pandemic has hurt many families in our community, it is now time to give back to the community and donate. If you are unable to make donations, you can offer your help by printing 3D toys using your local or personal 3D printer (https://harpercollege.formstack.com/forms/3d_printing_elf_volunteer).
