Story
At The Oxygen Works we see people coming here from not only the Highlands and Islands but across the whole of Scotland including some very rural areas. A mobile chamber that could be transported to communities to reach these people and reducing their need to travel.
We also recognise the difficulties that children face when coming in to what can be an intimidating, uncomfortable environment to receive their oxygen. At the centre children have to wear a cumbersome, uncomfortable hood rather than a face mask. The tensile chamber would give children the ability to lie comfortably with a parent/carer and wear a paediatric mask to breathe in their oxygen.
The cost for this amazing piece of equipment is in excess of £25,000. We have been careful to ensure we have sourced a chamber from a company which uses food safe urethane coated material. There are cheaper alternatives available (circa £20,000), however these chambers are made of materials which outgas volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which would impair the health benefits we are looking support. We have worked hard to find a manufacturer who shares the same safety and holistic standards as ourselves.
