Story
The Breast Care Unit at Torbay Hospital is supported by the Torbay and South Devon NHS Charity.
Clinical staff and patients identify and raise funds for projects that improve facilities and the treatment environment for patients and their families. This helps the team to fund projects that are over and above the scope of the NHS, that will make a real difference to their patients.
One such project funded thanks to donations and fundraising is a free of charge weekly yoga class for people who have had or are having treatment for breast cancer;
Helen, who attends the yoga class, said: Theresas yoga group and her knowledge and care, and the support of other group members has carried me through - not only cancer, but other medical and life events too. It has been one of the most important factors in my recovery, mind, body and spirit.
Donations and fundraising have also funded a tattoo machine to enable nipple and areola tattooing which improves body image, a water cooler, small pieces of equipment and a beautiful garden and sculpture outside the Unit which provides a lovely and tranquil place for loved ones and families to wait.
Your support will make such a difference to the care the dedicated team at Torbay Hospital can provide to local people. Thank you so much
