Story
16-year-old Tommy, who has an extremely rare condition, is short of funds to pay for a life-enhancing, adapted buggy.
The teen, whose body size resembles that of a six-year-old's, is limited on where he can go as his wheelchair is unable to move over uneven ground.
Tommy and his mum are restricted to going out in fine weather conditions as his wheelchair doesn't have a rain cover and his heart and lung condition means he finds it difficult to breathe when it's windy.
The all-terrain buggy, which would be specially fitted to fit Tommy, would provide the youngster and his mum the ability to enjoy trips to the beach together.
With the specialised equipment Tommy, who loves waving at everyone he passes, and his mum can experience some much-needed respite as it will enable them to go on days out and enjoy holidays with ease.
Tommy's mum, Jo, says:
"I've always tried to give him as many mainstream activities throughout his life and I feel that an all terrain buggy will enhance these experiences for him.
I want him to live a full, prosperous life and get out there as much as physically possible. He's such a happy and social character and for him to be stuck inside more than necessary has had a negative impact on his mental health."
Can you help fund Tommy's life-changing buggy?
Any funds raised over and above what we need to provide this equipment for Tommy will go towards helping fund vitally needed equipment for other children in need.
